Casey Daliyo has studied traditional music, dance, and arts most of her life. She grew up in California in a musical family and started playing violin at the age of 6. She quickly fell in love with American Old Time Fiddle music and was a competition fiddler for around 10 years. After high school, she spent time in Japan studying the culture, language, and martial arts. In 2007, she began studying Zimbabwean dance and music with Julia Chigamba and Ronnie Daliyo, and shortly after joined the Chinyakare Ensemble. Casey believes traditional arts are important in all cultures, and believes they should be cherished and preserved for future generations.
